Take that big step

Take that big step

IF you struggle with inertia like me, then you know that taking that first step is the hardest part. Whether that is getting up out of bed in the morning, making major life shifting decisions, or simply finally deciding that your thoughts are worth hearing. Getting started and putting yourself out there is hard. But worth it, or at least that is what I believe.

I am writing this today because I believe that my thoughts, accumulated knowledge, and perspectives can make a difference in your life just like they have made a difference in mine. I’m not here to sell you some magic salve or get rich quick scheme. I’m humbly here sharing what I’ve learned and what I think about it. I‘m not for everyone, but I hope that by taking this big step I will find who is for me.

Who am I?

Well that’s a loaded question, innit? I am a woman that has worked very hard for everyone else, raised by a woman that worked very hard for everyone else, and I am learning how to work with ease for myself. I grew up with a decent amount of privilege matched by an indecent amount of trauma. Yet, none of those things define me. I say I am healing because I think that in a culture of normalized unwellness, healing is inevitable. I say I am a heathen because I do not belong within the commodified belief systems that are so widely accepted without any critical thinking.

My background is in science with degrees in microbiology and biotechnology. For most of my life I have wondered what does it mean to exist? To live? This question first rooted in the physical, then transcended into the realm of consciousness. What is awareness? What is it to live mindfully, aware and aligned with oneself? This led me to study different spiritual traditions and ultimately complete training to be a certified mindfulness meditation teacher. Here I intend to share my knowledge and opinions on mindfulness, biology, and my personal experimental journey in healing centered on what I call kaleidoscope awareness.
